Renewal SA works with South Australian industry to identify and help address affordable living issues. Housing represents the single largest expense in the average household budget, and identifying those households paying more than 30% of their income on mortgage or rent is a key indicator of housing stress.
The Government of South Australia is committed to affordable housing, and is working to ensure that home rental and ownership are within reach for all South Australians.
To help industry understand housing affordability issues, we've developed reports highlighting key housing demand and supply data. This information is available by local government area, as well as an overview for the state.
It's intended that information in the housing reports is used to establish affordable housing demand, and:
- facilitate market research to support the residential industry in identify housing demand
- establish an starting point for local government to undertake research for housing plans
- supply information for academics and researchers.
